Parents as Reading Partners 2025
The Parents as Reading Partners (PARP) program ran from May 6 to May 16. This year’s theme was FIESTA: Reading is Red Hot! Throughout the two weeks, students participated in a variety of fun activities, including “Dress in Red” Day, “Sock it to a Good Book” (wear crazy socks), “Dress as a Book Character” Day, “Twin with an Amigo” Day, and “Wear a T-shirt with Words” Day.
Students also added to our Taco 'Bout a Good Book! bulletin board by filling in paper tacos with the titles of their favorite books. Each child received a new book to keep and enjoyed chips and salsa for a snack!
The PARP hallway was transformed with decorations featuring numbers and colors in both Spanish and English, silly pictures of teachers holding labeled objects, and a vibrant “FIESTA!” word display. Older students enjoyed a scavenger hunt that challenged them to explore and learn from the PARP wall.
We wrapped up the celebration with our annual PARP Carnival, held on Friday, May 16 during 10th period in the gym. Sixth graders, along with several high school students who were past PARP participants, did a fantastic job running the games and handing out popcorn.
Thank you to all the adults, students, and parents who supported the PARP program and helped make it a wonderful success!
